On Tuesday morning, a person fell from a balcony near Church Street and The Esplanade in Toronto and later succumbed to their injuries. The Toronto police reported the incident occurred around 2 a.m. during a crisis situation. Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported an adult man with life-threatening injuries to a hospital. Notably, three police officers were injured during their response to the emergency call. Church Street was closed between Front Street and The Esplanade as investigations commenced by Ontario's police watchdog.
