Premier Doug Ford and Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy announced a $200 rebate for 15 million Ontarians to help with the high cost of living, costing about $3 billion.
"Our government is putting money back into taxpayers' pockets," said Colin Blachar, highlighting the intent behind the rebates amidst growing financial concerns for Ontarians.
Opposition leaders are skeptical, labeling the rebates as a distraction from critical issues like health care and housing, with some seeing them as a 'pre-election bribe'.
The non means-tested rebates will cost $3 billion, funded by increased provincial sales tax revenue and changes to the capital gains tax, according to Ford.
