"Metrolinx began a final test of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line on Tuesday, but has yet to announce an opening date of the much-delayed route. The test, known as the revenue service demonstration or RSD, is happening across the 19-kilometre east-west line that consists of 25 stops and stations. The revenue service demonstration is scheduled to last 30 days."
"Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay said at an Aug. 6 news conference that the test will "demonstrate that the system is safe and reliable when it opens." Lindsay said at the time that if the test is successful, Metrolinx will "declare substantial completion of the project" and work with the Ontario government and the TTC on a "progressive ramp-up of service." On its website, Metrolinx says the test demonstrates the "rail service capabilities" of the project."
Metrolinx began a final, 30-day revenue service demonstration across the 19-kilometre Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which includes 25 stops and stations. The agency has not announced an opening date and said the public will be informed when a date is set. The project missed an originally targeted September test start and was initially set to open in 2020 after construction began in 2011. Technical problems and cost overruns have repeatedly delayed completion. Metrolinx and TTC will review performance during the test, identify concerns, and resolve outstanding issues; a successful RSD could lead to substantial completion and a progressive ramp-up of service.
