Man dead, 1 in custody after assault in East Gwillimbury, Ont., York police say | CBC News
"A man is dead and a suspect is in custody following an assault in East Gwillimbury, Ont., late Friday night, York police say. At 11:25 p.m., officers responded to an assault in progress at Queensville Sideroad and Yonge Street, York police said in a post on X. A man was found with critical injuries and was taken to hospital, police said."
"Around 2 a.m., police posted an update saying the man had died from his injuries. The homicide unit is now investigating. Police said the incident appears to have been isolated and they are not seeking additional suspects. They did not provide more information about the suspect, victim or the alleged assault. Police are warning of a large police presence in the area as they canvas for witnesses, collect video and gather evidence."
Officers responded at 11:25 p.m. to an assault in progress at Queensville Sideroad and Yonge Street in East Gwillimbury. A man was found with critical injuries and transported to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. One suspect was detained and the homicide unit has opened an investigation. Police indicate the incident appears isolated and say they are not seeking additional suspects.
