"A man is dead and a suspect is in custody following an assault in East Gwillimbury, Ont., late Friday night, York police say. At 11:25 p.m., officers responded to an assault in progress at Queensville Sideroad and Yonge Street, York police said in a post on X. A man was found with critical injuries and was taken to hospital, police said."

Police said the incident appears to have been isolated and they are not seeking additional suspects. They did not provide more information about the suspect, victim or the alleged assault.
