Gaza fundraisers in Toronto hope to create change, as Palestinians face hunger crisis | CBC News
Briefly

Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing famine-level hunger, with 63 children reported dead from malnutrition in July and over 180 deaths due to hunger in the last two years. Most food entering Gaza is blocked by Israeli forces, leading to a nearing full-scale famine as reported by UN agencies. Angelica Rao has organized Park Yoga for Palestine, raising over $2,000 for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, with a goal of $4,000 by summer's end. Those seeking food face dangerous conditions, risking their safety amid food scarcity at Israeli-controlled distribution sites.
"People are given very short periods of time to enter into a caged area [where] they basically have to fight over food and are shot at," she said. "We've seen many deaths and many mass casualty incidents from those sites."
Money from the classes is being put toward the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and so far they've raised over $2,000. The goal is to raise $4,000 by the end of the summer.
