Bichette, 27, has spent his seven major-league seasons with Toronto and could still re-sign if the Blue Jays outbid other teams. Qualifying offers provide draft-pick compensation to teams when eligible players enter free agency. Nine players declined qualifying offers this year while four accepted. For the 2026 season the qualifying offer was $22,025,000 US, based on the mean salary of the top 125 MLB earners. Players accepting included Shota Imanaga, Gleyber Torres, Brandon Woodruff and Trent Grisham. Bichette missed late season time with a knee injury but returned to play second base in Game 7 of the World Series after missing the first two playoff rounds.
