"Two Toronto firefighters were injured and several people displaced due to a residential fire that damaged two houses and a vehicle in the city's east end on Monday. The two-alarm fire broke out in a home on Yardley Avenue near Victoria Park Avenue, north of St. Clair Avenue E. Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. Toronto Fire Services said the blaze spread to a home next door and burned a vehicle in between the two houses."
"When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames. No one was in the first home that caught fire but nearby houses were evacuated, Toronto Fire Services said. The injured firefighters were taken to a local hospital, where they were assessed and treated for minor injuries, according to Toronto paramedics. Crews were said to be conducting a fire watch on Monday night after the fire was knocked down."
A two-alarm residential fire began shortly before 6 p.m. in a home on Yardley Avenue near Victoria Park Avenue, north of St. Clair Avenue E. The blaze spread to the adjoining house and burned a vehicle parked between the two homes. Heavy smoke and flames met firefighters on arrival, and nearby residences were evacuated while the first home was unoccupied. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for assessment and treatment. Crews conducted a fire watch after knocking down the blaze. Yardley Avenue between Victoria Park Avenue and Barron Road was closed and drivers were advised to use alternate routes.
