SF Oasis brings back 'Fresh Prince'- and yes, there's a Carlton dance
Briefly

Oasis has revived their production of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, appealing to nostalgia for Gen Xers and Millennials. The show captures the essence of the original series with its energetic performances, humor, and timely references. It reflects on the significance of Black representation in entertainment during a predominantly white television landscape of the '90s. Director Snaxx emphasizes the show’s importance despite contemporary controversies surrounding its actors, noting that its cultural impact transcends any negative associations.
It was important to me to not only introduce a new show that was deeply nostalgic for me, but a show that featured Black performers.
The thing about TV shows is they're so 'of a time,' and sometimes the material (or the actors) age poorly. But what the show means to me is bigger than all of that.
