"There was a time when I defended RDR Live as a concept, you know. Back then, I had no idea the levels of unfunniness this show could reach. Normally, the show has pretty rough scripts, and part of the challenge is to make it serviceable. That's whatever. Some queens, like Bob, Symone, and Onya, have actually managed to make it sing and were clear winners because of it."
"But this week, I found it actively difficult to tell who was doing a good or bad job because the scripts were so awful. I spent all 15 minutes the challenge lasted staring at my screen in a kind of stunned silence because of its utter uselessness. Maybe one queen stood out for the entire run of the challenge. Then an incomprehensible winner was chosen, and we moved right along."
RDR Live's recent episode featured poorly written sketches that obscured contestants' comedic abilities and made performance assessment difficult. The sketches lacked clear parody of Saturday Night Live templates, removing a structural advantage that might have compensated for weak writing. Historically, a few queens have elevated rough scripts into strong performances, but this episode produced at most one standout. Specific bits such as a butter-churning competition and 'Young Michelle' read as uninspired Drag Race filler. Runway critiques seemed disconnected from challenge performance, and the episode concluded with a winner selection that felt incomprehensible given what had aired.
