Rhea Seehorn Is the World's Most Special Woman in New Trailer for Vince Gilligan's Pluribus
"Pluribus, the mysterious new Apple TV+ series from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, just got a little less mysterious. At the very least, we now know that Rhea Seehorn 's character is named Carol, and that she's at the center of something massive that's happening to the world. The official description says that Pluribus "is a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness." There are more than a few clues in the new trailer to examine here: A news chyron on a TV warning people about "landlines only," people carrying boxes and boxes of supplies, Carol driving a police car (maybe she's a cop?)."
"Gilligan wrote the show specifically for Seehorn after the two worked together on Better Call Saul for all six seasons. "I did not collaborate on it at all, but [Gilligan] came to me and said that he wrote something for me, which made me cry," she told Consequence in 2022. "It is a departure, as has been said in the press - it has nothing to do with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul ... I know some people are not going to believe that it's not actually a Kim Wexler spinoff until the day it airs, but it's not.""
Pluribus centers on Carol, portrayed by Rhea Seehorn, as the most miserable person on Earth who must save the world from an epidemic of forced happiness. The trailer shows ominous signs: a TV chyron warning 'landlines only,' people hoarding supplies, and Carol driving a police car, implying official or law-enforcement involvement. The series blends genres, positioning misery as a weapon against pervasive joy and suggesting large-scale social upheaval. Seehorn's character feels distinct from previous roles. The series premieres November 7 on Apple TV+.
