"Imagine that you're watching someone from the White House speak on TV. Then, he calls your house to talk to you directly. You'd likely ask him, "What the f**k" is going on? That's how the trailer for a new Apple TV+ series titled Pluribus begins, as the White House official tells a woman (played by Rhea Seehorn) that his call, "must be so bewildering to you." I'll say!"
"According to a press release, the plot vaguely follows how, 'The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.' So, what else can we pick up from the trailer? Well, it looks like the Covid-19 pandemic may have heavily inspired this series. There's a lot of dystopian images of people bringing Seehorn's character, Carol, food and water straight to her door."
Pluribus premieres November 7 on Apple TV+ and stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol. The plot centers on a singularly miserable woman tasked with saving the world from enforced happiness. The trailer shows a White House official contacting Carol via television and offering medicine and assistance while indicating plans to 'figure out what makes you different' so she can 'join us.' The series uses dystopian imagery and pandemic-era motifs, including people delivering food and water to Carol's door. Promotional teasers include a 30-second clip and a working phone number (202-808-3981) that plays a recorded message.
