""There was another actor who played the role for the first, I think, five of the eight episodes,""
""an incredibly talented guy... but we were on different pages about certain things, and I don't think he wanted to continue on the series in the long run.""
""I was in an audition, and [they had] made up a different character's name for the sides," Stroma explained. "And then I had a phone call with James, and he was trying to figure out what was doable, whether we could do ADR lines over [the scene] if the mask is on.""
Chris Conrad originally portrayed Vigilante for the first five of eight episodes of Peacemaker Season 1. Creative differences prompted James Gunn to recast the role during production. Freddie Stroma auditioned under a different character name and subsequently assumed the part mid-filming. Production examined ADR options for masked scenes and required an actor with a similar height and body type to match previously shot footage. Stroma's portrayal introduced an innocent, comedic foil to John Cena's Peacemaker, shifting the character dynamic and maintaining continuity with existing material while accommodating the creative direction change.
