The ceremony, hosted by Chelsea Handler, honored the year’s best in film, streaming and television as voted by critics and journalists and served as an early Oscar indicator. Adolescence star Owen Cooper, 16, won best supporting actor in a limited series. Stephen Graham won best actor in a limited series and Erin Doherty won best supporting actress in a limited series. The Netflix series Adolescence was among the platform’s most-watched titles of 2025 and follows a 13-year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate. Killarney-born Buckley won best actress for the historical drama Hamnet. Hamnet explores William Shakespeare’s relationship with Agnes Hathaway after their 11-year-old son’s death and is based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel. Buckley thanked director Chloe Zhao and co-stars Paul Mescal and Emily Watson, calling Watson her "north star." Cooper thanked his co-stars, collaborators and family during a heartfelt acceptance speech.
