Updates to Fallout 76 have made Ghouls playable and recently added a character voiced by Goggins. Goggins avoids playing the games to prevent seeing the world as an avatar and to protect his interpretation of the character. He insists that The Ghoul and Cooper Howard must feel real to him so he can perform authentically. The Ghoul character was created specifically for the Amazon adaptation.
