A new YouTube channel launched with a single hour-long video titled “Only In Monroe --- May 22, 2026.” The video shows Stephen Colbert appearing on Monroe Community Media, a public access television station in Monroe, Michigan. Colbert jokes about being off television and references concerns about the station being acquired by Paramount, CBS’s parent company. The channel launch follows controversy surrounding the end of The Late Show and Paramount’s merger efforts. Paramount canceled the show while seeking regulatory approval for a Skydance Media merger. Delays followed a Trump lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, alleging deceptive editing and election interference. Paramount settled and agreed to donate $16 million to Trump’s future presidential library, which Colbert criticized as a bribe.
"Paramount eventually settled the lawsuit and agreed to donate $16m to Trump's future presidential library. Colbert sharply criticized the agreement on-air, calling it a big fat bribe. As someone who has always been a proud employee of this network, I am offended I don't know if anything anything will repair my trust in this company. But, just taking a stab at it, I'd say $16m would help, Colbert added at the time."
