Jerry Adler, a veteran actor and longtime theater director, died at 96. Friends, colleagues and fans mourned his passing and remembered his screen and stage presence. Frank J. Reilly recalled that Adler arranged a job for his son on The Sopranos and later accepted a role on Rescue Me. Adler began acting in his 60s after decades on Broadway since 1950 and acted for 28 years before retiring. He worked on more than 50 Broadway productions as producer, director and production stage manager, including serving as stage manager for the original My Fair Lady. Adler filmed The Sopranos pilot while recovering from gastric surgery by obtaining a day pass.
