A GoFundMe was set up for James Van Der Beek's family - 'the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds'
"In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future,"
"Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives,"
"My friends created this link to support me and our children during this time. With gratitude and a broken heart."
James Van Der Beek died Wednesday at age 48 from colorectal cancer. He was diagnosed with colorectal cancer three years ago. A GoFundMe campaign organized under his wife's name aimed to raise $1 million to cover medical bills and support the family. The campaign was shared on both James and Kimberly's Instagram stories and had raised over $598,000 by 7:30 p.m. The fundraiser cited the costs of James's medical care and an extended fight against cancer as leaving the family out of funds. Donations were requested to help with living expenses, bills, and the children's education. GoFundMe said it is working with the organizer to ensure funds reach the intended beneficiary.
