During a Senate hearing on child safety, Mark Zuckerberg addressed relatives of online child abuse victims and expressed remorse for their suffering.
"I'm sorry for everything you have all been through," Mr. Zuckerberg said, turning his back away from the Senators and toward the family members.
Mr. Zuckerberg acknowledged the company's failure to adequately address child exploitation and abuse. He faced scrutiny from senators on various topics, including child sexual abuse content and proposed legislation to stop it. He defended his company's actions and emphasized the resources invested in safeguarding the platform.
"I have authorized more than $20 billion to help safeguard the platform and have hired tens of thousands of employees," Zuckerberg stated during the hearing.
