Windows 11 upgrade? Enterprises have no choice
Briefly

According to Lansweeper, Windows 10's presence in the enterprise has dropped from 80.5 percent to 67.1 percent in the last year, while Windows 11 usage has risen to 23.1 percent from 8.3 percent. This change indicates a significant shift towards Windows 11, although it may still fall short of Microsoft's expectations for the OS after three years.
Historically, Lansweeper's statistics have made grim reading for Microsoft. In April 2022, their findings indicated that Windows 11 usage was alarmingly close to Windows XP. After a year, nearly half of surveyed devices were ineligible for the upgrade due to stringent hardware requirements, highlighting the struggles faced by enterprises trying to migrate.
Less pressure to move to Windows 11 in previous years meant that a higher percentage of growth could be attributed to natural device replacement lifecycles and new hardware acquisition, suggesting gradual acceptance rather than an urgent migration rush.
Only 3.5 percent of Windows 10 devices are using the Long Term Servicing Branch, indicating that most devices will require an upgrade to Windows 11 before the end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.
