US tech jobs outlook clouded by DOGE and Trump tariffs
Briefly

Recent reports indicate that while the IT unemployment rate has slightly decreased, the overall job market for tech workers remains uncertain due to economic factors. Janco Associates reports a decrease in IT jobs overall, with 9,100 jobs lost in the sector this year. However, those who are unemployed are finding new positions more rapidly than expected, as demand continues from CIOs. Concerns about tariffs, inflation, and geopolitical issues are integral to the hiring pace in the IT sector.
"IT pros who were unemployed last month found jobs more quickly than was anticipated as CIOs rushed to fill open positions," said Janco CEO Victor Janulaitis.
"Economic uncertainty continues to hurt overall IT hiring," the Janco boss said before reeling off a series of questions: "What will the impact of tariffs be? How long will it take for inflation to be brought under control?"
"All of these are issues that enterprises are facing, is impacting the pace of hiring of IT Pros," Janulaitis observed.
Despite a minor decline in total positions, the IT unemployment rate has slightly decreased, indicating a mixed outlook in the tech job market.
