United Launch Alliance (ULA) is preparing to launch Amazon's first production satellites for its Kuiper Internet network, having already stacked the Vulcan rocket at Cape Canaveral. However, pending certification from the Space Force has delayed the launch of the USSF-106 mission. ULA pivots its focus to Amazon as it has a significant backlog of contracts. The company is also set to finish manufacturing Atlas V rockets, ensuring its inventory remains available for future launches, as Amazon competes against SpaceX's Starlink with its planned satellite constellation.
"These satellites, built to withstand the harsh conditions of space and the journey there, will be processed upon arrival to get them ready for launch."
"We have a stockpile of rockets, which is kind of unusual. Normally, you build it, you fly it, you build another one..."
