Toshiba creates team to build, power, and run datacenters

Toshiba is establishing the Data Center Business Promotion Department to improve its attractiveness and engagement with datacenter builders and operators. The initiative aims to leverage the company's diverse expertise in power generation, cooling systems, and other technologies, as well as new modular data center services. They intend to create an end-to-end solution from design to maintenance, and explore an anything-as-a-service model for data linkage. The Data Center Infrastructure Promotion Office will operationalize these strategies from July 1st, as Toshiba begins hiring for the initiative.
"We are entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution - and datacenters sit at its core," he told The Register. "This is the most significant wave of infrastructure development in modern history."
Toshiba has created a new internal organization, the Data Center Business Promotion Department, to better engage with datacenter builders and operators.
An anything-as-a-service offering "centered on data linkage between datacenters" is also on its agenda, as a way to add further value to bit barns.
The company's executives believe that by coordinating different business units, they can enhance collaboration and better serve the needs of the datacenter market.
