Verizon customers across multiple U.S. cities faced significant service outages on Monday, with users reporting phones stuck in SOS mode and over 100,000 outage reports logged, indicating widespread connectivity issues.
In response to the ongoing service disruptions, Verizon acknowledged the problem, stating, 'We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue,' though they did not provide a timeline for resolution.
While Midwest cities experienced the most severe outages, reports also emerged from New York City and Atlanta, showing that the problem affected customers across the nation, not limited to a single region.
The outage coincides with ongoing challenges in the Southeast, where Hurricane Helene recently struck, but Verizon clarified that the current issues were not directly attributed to the hurricane-related damages.
