Nintendo has taken an unusual step by launching a public testing program for new software related to the Nintendo Switch Online service, filling slots quickly.
According to dataminer OatmealDome, downloading the special software starts on October 21, with testing beginning on October 23, requiring at least 2.2GB of free space.
Fans speculate the test may focus on a new cloud streaming feature, suggested by the recommendation for wired connections and the active Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
It's possible that a cloud streaming feature could allow access to newer games the Switch isn't powerful enough to run, or improve retro emulation.
