Microsoft has released a recovery tool to assist in repairing Windows PCs affected by the CrowdStrike-induced outage, caused by a buggy software update affecting millions of computers.
The tool automatically creates a boot drive to restore affected computers, offering a more automated solution compared to the manual steps previously suggested by system administrators.
To use Microsoft's recovery tool, the PC must run a 64-bit version of Windows with 8GB of free space, needing local admin rights. A USB drive with 1-32GB storage is used for the boot media.
The recovery tool provides options to start the PC in Safe Mode or proceed with the recovery process, simplifying the repair steps for users affected by the outage.
