Microsoft has announced that support for the Windows Mail, Calendar, and People apps will cease on December 31, prompting users to transition to the new Outlook for Windows app.
Users who do not migrate to the new Outlook app will find themselves unable to send and receive emails through the now unsupported Windows Mail and Calendar applications.
The rollout of the new web-based Outlook for Windows marks a strategic shift by Microsoft, who plans to fully transition users over time, including enterprise clients.
While the new Outlook for Windows has been available since August, classic Outlook installations will continue receiving support through 2029, indicating a gradual phase-out.
