Microsoft has confirmed that support for eSCL scanner and fax machine connectivity has been fixed with the KB5048667 update, resolving previous compatibility issues.
The problem occurred when Windows attempted to discover devices supporting the Scanner Communication Language (eSCL) protocol, leading to incomplete device discovery.
The eSCL protocol allows for driverless scanning over a network or USB connections, previously causing compatibility holds which affected multiple connected devices.
By lifting the compatibility hold, Microsoft bolsters user experience for those reliant on scanners or multifunction printers, enhancing the device discovery functionality.
