Microsoft Defender's VPN feature will be killed off at the end of February
Briefly

Microsoft has announced it will discontinue the built-in VPN service offered through Microsoft Defender, effective February 28. This VPN, included with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, provided privacy by routing internet traffic through Microsoft servers and had a monthly limit of 50GB. Microsoft stated that the decision came from a routine evaluation of service effectiveness and intends to reallocate resources towards features more aligned with customer requirements. Other security features remain intact, with Android users needing to manually remove the VPN profile post-discontinuation.
Our goal is to ensure you, and your family remain safer online. We routinely evaluate the usage and effectiveness of our features.
The VPN was bundled with Microsoft Defender, which is available to anyone with a personal or family Microsoft 365 subscription.
Action is not required by Windows, iOS, and macOS users; while Android users might still see the Microsoft Defender VPN profile.
We are removing the privacy protection feature and will invest in new areas that will better align to customer needs.
