Major ISP service changes cause Microsoft 365 outage
Briefly

Microsoft has confirmed an issue impacting Azure connectivity, stemming from problems between Microsoft services and a major ISP's network, believed to be AT&T. Reports emerged around 1300 UTC from AT&T customers facing difficulties accessing Outlook and other Microsoft services. Although some functionality has returned, there is no assurance of full service restoration.
In a status update, Microsoft stated, 'The ISP has reverted the change and we're now seeing signs of recovery.' The company is actively monitoring network telemetry to confirm full recovery from the issues caused by the ISP.
This incident marks the second widespread outage of Azure services in a few months. Previously, in July, Azure faced issues due to internal DDoS defenses that magnified an attack rather than mitigating it.
As the situation develops, updates will be provided. Both Microsoft and AT&T have been approached for additional comments to shed light on the ongoing connectivity challenges.
