How to upgrade an 'incompatible' Windows 10 PC to Windows 11: Two ways

As of October 1, 2024, Microsoft has tightened compatibility checks for Windows 11 upgrades, complicating the process for users with older PCs, especially AMD processors.
On October 14, 2025, Microsoft plans to cease security updates for Windows 10, charging users for continued access through the Extended Security Updates program.
Despite Microsoft's restrictions, there are documented workarounds for upgrading older PCs to Windows 11, provided they meet certain other system requirements.
To implement the workaround for Windows 11 upgrades, PCs must be set to UEFI startup and support Secure Boot, but it does not need to be enabled.
