"Whether you log 1 WFA day or 5 WFA days in a given standard work week, 1 WFA week will be deducted from your WFA weekly balance,"
"Why does even one day of WFA count as a whole week, and can we reconsider the restriction on using WFA weeks to work from home?"
"was meant to meet Googlers where they were during the pandemic"
"was always intended to be taken in increments of a week and not be used as a substitute for working from home in a regular hybrid workweek,"
Google updated its Work From Anywhere policy so any remote work day outside an employee's primary office counts as a full WFA week, reducing flexibility. The change deducts one WFA week regardless of one to five remote days in a standard work week and limits how employees can use their annual WFA allowance. The policy was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic and previously allowed up to four weeks per year from a different location. The update excludes data center and on-site operations workers and reinforces a three-day in-office hybrid requirement for most employees.
