Google tests desktop windowing for Android tablets
Briefly

Google is testing a new "desktop windowing" feature for Android tablets, allowing users to resize and arrange apps freely, akin to desktop OS experiences.
Currently, Android tablet apps open in full screen. The new feature enables windowed apps, with options to reposition, maximize, or close, plus a taskbar for running apps.
The feature draws parallels to the iPad's Stage Manager and Samsung's DeX, enhancing multitasking by permitting users to have multiple app instances open on-screen.
Once fully released, activating the desktop mode requires holding the window handle or using a keyboard shortcut. Non-resizable apps will soon see UI scaling improvements.
