Microsoft has released updates aimed at resolving the DAC issue affecting Windows users. The patch has apparently eliminated the error message 'This device cannot start' when using external audio management devices. However, some users continue to experience problems. Additionally, a new Outlook for Windows app is now included in Windows 10 updates, replacing the older Mail and Calendar apps. Microsoft announced that support for the Mail and Calendar apps will end by December 31, 2024, prompting concerns as many versions of Windows 10 reach end of support in October 2024.
Users brave enough to try out the update reported on social media that the DAC problem did indeed appear to have been solved.
Support for Mail and Calendar ended on December 31, 2024. Microsoft stated that users can no longer send and receive emails or events using these applications.
