Asia reaches 50 percent IPv6 capability
Briefly

Asia has achieved a significant milestone, reaching 50% IPv6 capability as reported by the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC). This percentage indicates the ability of hosts in 56 member countries to use IPv6, rather than the percentage of devices relying on it. China and India are primary contributors to this progress, owing to their large populations, active internet use, and supportive national policies. APNIC also noted that despite ARIN regions having a 52% capability, APNIC users account for 64% of global IPv6 users.
"This marks a significant milestone, achieved 25 years after the regional journey with IPv6 first began," wrote APNIC director general Jia Rong Low in a Wednesday blog post.
"When measuring IPv6 usage, if APNIC Labs can fetch a URL using IPv6, then the host system is labelled 'IPv6 capable'," Low wrote.
"China and India are leading the charge to IPv6 in Asia, attributed to their vast number of active Internet users, strong national policies, and capital investments."
"APNIC claims bragging rights because users in its member countries account for 64 percent of global IPv6 users, compared to ARIN's 9.6 percent."
