Amazon is pausing commercial drone deliveries in Texas and Arizona following incidents with their MK30 drones, including one that caught fire after a crash in Oregon.
The crashes were attributed to a software issue complicated by light rain during testing. However, Amazon insists that this is not the primary reason for the current pause.
Amazon's spokesperson, Sam Stephenson, stated that the pause is voluntary while they make software changes and seek FAA approval before resuming operations.
Despite the operational halt, employees at the drone testing sites will continue being paid, ensuring support during the technology's refinement period.
