Amazon aims to branch into UK internet market with satellite broadband plan
Briefly

Amazon is preparing to launch its satellite broadband service in the UK within two years with its Project Kuiper, aiming to compete with SpaceX's Starlink in low-Earth orbit connectivity.
Project Kuiper plans to deploy 3,000 small satellites for continuous coverage to compete with Starlink's 6,000 satellites. Direct-to-device connections may also become available soon.
Amazon is exploring direct-to-device satellite services, allowing smartphones to connect directly to satellites. This could provide secure communications for government and emergency services.
The company urged the British regulator Ofcom to provide access to radio spectrum across all frequencies used for mobile services to facilitate its satellite network expansion.
