Lignin Industries AB, a Swedish greentech company, has raised â¬3.9 million to expedite its commercialization efforts for producing bio-based materials from lignin. Founded in 2018, the enterprise utilizes forest residues and advanced green chemistry to create sustainable alternatives to fossil-based plastics, significantly aiding the transition to net-zero CO2 products. The funding round attracted multiple investors including the Carrick family, aiming to support the scaling of their patented product, Renol, which can be applied in various plastic uses, indicating a shift toward sustainable manufacturing solutions.
Lignin Industries exists to show another way is possible: that by looking to the natural world, we can positively reform the global plastic industry.
With an abundant feedstock and the ability to fit within existing plastics infrastructure and processes, widespread adoption is underway.
