The Celebration Ezra 2025 event gathered over 300 attendees to celebrate entrepreneurship at Cornell, honoring John Bicket as the Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year. The event featured networking opportunities, business competitions, and a Demo Day for the student accelerator program. President Michael I. Kotlikoff emphasized the significant impact that universities have on both the economy and individual lives. Throughout the event, Bicket shared insights on co-founding Meraki and the journey towards launching successful tech companies, showcasing the university's role in fostering entrepreneurial talent.
"Celebration Ezra is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Cornell's entrepreneurial mindset and energy," said Zach Shulman '87, J.D. '90, director of Entrepreneurship at Cornell.
"One of the things that gets lost in a lot of the conversations we're having now is the value for our economy, for our quality of life, that comes from universities," Kotlikoff said.
Bicket described co-founding Meraki: "Our first company, Meraki, started as a research project offering free Wi-Fi to graduate students..."
