"We designed our project areas to ensure maximum participation," Iyengar said, illustrating Louisiana's strategy to encourage diverse provider engagement in the BEAD broadband funding process.
"It's functionally one big round. We're trying to obligate all [the funding] at once," Iyengar noted, clarifying the overarching approach to funding rounds and the urgency behind the process.
Iyengar expects the broadband office to be "in good shape by the end of September to understand the results" of both funding rounds, ensuring a timely announcement of awards.
As Iyengar explained, initial bids will detail which technology each provider intends to use, with a priority on fiber while allowing flexibility as needed based on costs.
