A former marketing executive and cofounder of Chief is joining consumer-focused venture capital fund Bullish as a venture partner to coach startup founders on building culture-driving brands. Bullish focuses on early-stage consumer investments, typically from pre-seed to Series A, and has backed companies such as Warby Parker, Harry's, Peloton, and Casper. The venture partner will prioritize startups addressing loneliness, dating, parenting, health, and identity and belonging. Community-building and the ability to attract attention are presented as critical complements to capital for creating products people want. Paid media and algorithm spending cannot substitute for founders who can build real communities. AI can serve as a tool for solving consumer problems, but not all AI will resonate with real users.
