Counterpoint Research suggests strong preference for flagship-grade compact phones in India
Briefly

A survey by Counterpoint Research shows that 88% of young professionals in India are interested in compact smartphones with flagship-like performance. The survey highlights a demand for better options, as 68% believe there are insufficient models available. Features such as performance, battery life, and one-handed operability were prioritized by respondents. However, the survey findings challenge market trends favoring larger devices, exemplified by Apple's discontinuation of the iPhone mini. Despite this data, leading brands like Apple and Samsung continue to focus on larger models, indicating a disconnect between consumer desires and manufacturer offerings.
Setting aside the fact that the survey was commissioned by OnePlus and also the impetus to do so at present, the results seem at odds with existing market trends.
The study also reveals that 68% agree that there aren't enough options available on the market that fit these requirements.
Out of all the participants, 11% want a device with a display size that is below 6 inches and 29% who prefer it to be greater than 6.5 inches.
Over half of them prioritized performance and battery life while choosing a compact phone, with 73% considering it very important that the phone is operational with one hand.
