Qt recently unveiled its Bridges technology at the Qt World Summit 2025, which focuses on integrating Qt's UI capabilities with various programming languages, primarily to reduce its C++ reliance. Historically, Qt required familiarity with C++ for effective usage, limiting its accessibility to developers who preferred other languages. With the introduction of Qt Bridges, the company aims to expand its utility and bring its innovative UI/UX developments to a broader audience, reflecting a significant shift in their approach to cross-platform development.
Our ethos with Qt and cross-platform development has always been 'build it once, use it everywhere,' said Juhapekka Niemi, SVP of Product Management at Qt Group.
We looked back at all the amazing tech inventions we've helped make possible over the years with Qt and said, 'We want to bring that to a lot more people.'
While Qt has been great for UI development, its deep C++ roots have always been a bit of a stumbling block for developers more comfortable in other languages.
The journey began in late 2023, when the Qt team started thinking beyond their C++ and Python strongholds.
