Model Calls Out Fashion Brand For Plagiarizing Her Likeness With AI Photos In Controversial Ad
"She went on to share the frames in the advertisement that were similar to modelling photos of her from 2023. She showed side-by-side shots of herself and the model in the ad wearing similar outfits: black boots, grey jeans, a grey T-shirt, a white skirt, and a black jacket. Even the hairstyle seemed to have been copied."
"They changed the face a little bit. Look at the eye color. Look at the eyebrows and the freckles. This little bump I have on my nose. What do you mean? This is wild."
"They updated my hair. When these photos were taken in 2023, I still had my mullet. So we're even more accurate now."
Melanie Kieback, a Berlin-based photographer, blogger, and model with over 565,000 Instagram followers, publicly accused an unnamed fashion brand of creating an AI-generated twin of her likeness for advertising purposes. After a friend alerted her to the brand's advertisement, Kieback noticed striking similarities between the AI model and her own 2023 photoshoot. She documented the parallels through side-by-side comparisons, highlighting identical clothing choices including black boots, grey jeans, and a black jacket, as well as matching physical features such as eye color, eyebrows, freckles, and a distinctive nose bump. Kieback noted that the brand had even updated her hairstyle from her original mullet to a more current style. Her followers encouraged her to pursue legal action against the brand.
