Labubu dolls produced by Chinese toy maker Pop Mart have surged in popularity across Western market stalls and newsagents, amplified by TikTok and celebrity exposure from figures such as Kim Kardashian, David Beckham and Lady Gaga. Pop Mart's profits increased by about 400% in the past year as demand rose. Young Dublin shoppers expressed mixed views: some call the trend capitalist or wasteful, others expect the fad to fade quickly or would only keep a doll if gifted. The toys are often hung from bags and backpacks and retail for about €90 on the Pop Mart website.
It's just capitalism at its finest,
I think they're a sign of the times. I'd say they'll go out of trend as quickly as they came in,
They're a bit of a waste of money and I don't really understand them,
They're cute, but is there any real value to them, or is it just because it's a trend?
