Nalungo Conley, the recently appointed second assistant city manager in Vallejo, faced scrutiny after a racially charged social media account was taken down. The account had numerous controversial retweets reflecting racially charged sentiments. After inquiries from the Times-Herald, the X account, which had 372 followers and posts dating back to July 2024, was removed. Most controversial posts were retweets sharing negative views about race dynamics, particularly relating to white women and the LGBTQ community. The account had been highlighted by an email sent from someone outside Vallejo, raising concerns about authenticity.
The account apparently belonged to Vallejo resident Nalungo Conley, who started work Monday as the City's second assistant city manager.
The X account @nalungomc1 had 372 followers, with posts dating back to July 2024.
Most of the posts with racial references were retweets someone else on X wrote the tweet and Conley reposted it on her feed.
Former Richmond mayor and longtime Richmond City Council Member Tom Butt first noted, I would be suspicious of anything I read on social media.
