Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna died at 27 years old after being held in Russian captivity for 15 months. Previously, Roshchyna had reported from occupied Ukraine, putting herself in danger. Announced by Petro Yatsenko on October 10, the circumstances of her death remain unclear. She was preparing for a prisoner exchange and was believed to be close to returning home. Roshchyna had been arrested in March 2022 but released ten days later. She disappeared in August 2023 and was considered missing until her family received confirmation of her death.
