Caltrain runs an MLK Celebration Train from San Jose to San Francisco as an offshoot of the Freedom Trains founded by Coretta Scott King. Many riders march to Yerba Buena Gardens to view the MLK Jr. Memorial and reflect on his lessons. The Memorial Waterfall at Yerba Buena Gardens displays some of King's most inspiring quotes and is the planned site of the NorCalMLK Social Justice Center and Gallery. At the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland volunteers of all ages cleaned trails and shoreline to honor King. Students from Lodestar School served the community. Park rangers expressed gratitude amid concerns about litter.
