This is lawfare': Kenya weaponising the law' to silence critics and protesters
Briefly

Kevin Njoroge, a flower farm worker, was arrested by police after being caught in protests commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Saba Saba protests in Kenya. Mistaken for a criminal, he was charged with robbery and given an exorbitant bail of 200,000 Kenyan shillings, which he could not pay. After spending time in an overcrowded prison, he was released when his family managed to raise a reduced bail. Njoroge expressed concern for other young men still imprisoned without means to secure their release.
"When I got close to my neighbourhood in Kihoto estate, some police officers found me and arrested me along with others. They were picking anybody they saw off the streets and arresting them."
"I worry for many of the other young men I left behind in prison. Many of them don't have any means of getting out."
