Sex workers at Sheri's Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, petitioned the National Labor Relations Board to form United Brothel Workers, represented by the Communications Workers of America. Prostitution is legal in licensed brothels in 10 rural Nevada counties but not in Clark County. The majority of the brothel's 74 sex workers submitted the petition. The union drive was prompted by a December independent contractor agreement that would allow the brothel to use workers' likenesses without permission or compensation after they leave. Organizing efforts for sex workers vary globally. Sheri's Ranch says it respects workers' rights to express workplace views.
