Italy's PM condemns killing of sniffer dog with nail-filled sausages
Briefly

Bruno, a seven-year-old bloodhound awarded for his service in locating missing individuals, was found dead in Puglia after eating sausages stuffed with nails. His trainer, Arcangelo Caressa, discovered him suffering from internal bleeding due to the poisoned food. Authorities have opened an investigation analyzing CCTV footage. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and animal rights advocate Michela Vittoria Brambilla expressed outrage over the incident, suggesting it could be linked to Bruno's efforts in fighting dog-fighting rings. Stronger animal rights laws in Italy impose severe penalties for animal cruelty incidents.
In a Facebook post announcing Bruno's death, Caressa said: "Today I died with you. You fought for your whole life to help human beings, and it was humans who did this to you."
Bruno might have been targeted by criminals in a revenge attack because of his role in dismantling dog-fighting rings, said animal rights campaigner Michela Vittoria Brambilla.
